WHAT DO I INCLUDE IN A CAKE SMASH SESSION?


Cake smash sessions:

For that special first birthday I include

  • Small iced cake. This cake is SUPER simple and hand iced by me. (Or Kroger if they have a cute one that matches the theme. You are MORE than welcome to bring your own cake!
  • SOME decor is included IF the theme is decor I already have. If your wanting something special. let me know and we can work together to come up with things that will complement your session.
  • Outfits are NOT included in this age group. Message me and we can talk about the perfect outfit for your session. 
  • Bubble bath for clean up and for cute pics :) Must request this prior so I can prep the supplies

Sunshine & Sugar Sweets


For that special first birthday I include a small simple cake iced by me. If you want a specialty cake, I work closely with a local baker who does a phenomenal job on smash cakes. Her business is named Sunshine & Sugar Sweets. Here is a little about her cake smash cakes.

  • Detailed cake matching the theme and colors of your session
  • She will deliver your cake to me the morning of your session

Cake smash sessions are..... MESSY. Here is a list of things to bring to your session! 


  • Extra clothes to bring baby home in
  • Babys favorite snacks (in case baby hates the cake we can feed them puffs or other simple colored snacks to make it look like they are eating cake)
  • A big bath towel. A lot of times I like to finish sessions with a bubble bath. This helps clean baby off and makes for super cute pics.
  • Outfit that fits the theme. Usually something neutral colored works perfectly.
  • Hair comb and hair ties for girlies
  • If your session is outdoor- bring bug spray and sunscreen.
  • Bring baby's sippy cup with water. 


IN STUDIO OR OUTDOOR?


One thing I've always stressed is this: These photos are your memories. Not for me, not for your friends, and not to be trendy. You'll be looking back at these images for decades to come.


I love shooting indoor and outdoor, so this is purely your call. As long as weather allows.. outdoor is preferred for birthday sessions. Kiddos typically tend to be happier outdoors and those golden hour sunset glows are the best! However.. if its too hot, or rainy we could always move photos to the studio. 


Consider a neutral cake smash!



While I do love a decked out cake smash with balloons and all of the decor... there is something about scaling it all back and focusing on your growing baby. I shoot these sessions on my white wood floors with simplistic decor and focus on capturing every detail of your baby. If your style is more neutral... this is a great option to have a shoot that will stand the test of time and never go out of style.


OLDER KIDDO BIRTHDAY SESSIONS


These sessions are best super simple and true to life. No big elaborate set ups, just your babe.. at whatever age they are.. being themselves.


What is your kiddo in to? Dinos? Bring their favorite dino toy and let me photograph them playing. Do they love exploring outdoors? Let's plan an epic adventure outside and I can photograph them genuinely happy.


Keep their outfit super simple and earthy tones. No big bold patterns or characters. Just something that will let their little faces shine. Shoes.. this is a hard one. I don't expect you to go buy super crazy expensive shoes for this.. but please no crazy colored tennis shoes.. just something simple and neutral. If you have questions just shoot me a message.
